I hate country music.Every time it comes on I feel like my IQ drops fifty points. Sure, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and the older country stars are great.....but I don't want to debase those people by comparing them to the country of today. It's BRUTAL.
Anyways, tonight I'm being dragged out to a country and western club in town by some friends. The worst part are the guys that are there....either sad, older guys dressed in hats and cowboy boots that have never been worn on a farm, or the young, stupid farmboys who think they're hot shit.
They better have some damn good drink specials. What's your stance on country music?

I was flipping thru some radio stations and stopped at some Jimmy Buffet and after the song the station said it was classic country i was like wtf
you could say the same about every music style. there ara very few true musicians and the rest are all copy cats making shit
used to be good but cmon, current music of 2000'ish is apeshit
i like some older country, and maybe 5% of newer stuff.
My stance is it's one of those things that annoy me in general, so I avoid it. There are a few 'fusions' that are acceptable, and some of that slide guitar is funky, but that is it.

The oldies are still the best, obviously. There's some good new stuff, but like every other genre you have the groups that are just trying to sound like "country." Eli Young Band integrates a lot of other musical influences aside from country, so they're kind of unique. Anyway, I like some of it. Just don't make the whole "country doesn't talk about anything but broken relationships" spiel--95% of American music is about love. Period.
